Vegan options - Edinburgh and Dundee, Scotland

Edinburgh

The lucky pig (Paradise Palms) located 41 Lothian St, Edinburgh has the most gorgeous jackfruit nachos! Topped with a pineapple salsa, yum! They also do a brilliant loaded hotdog, all vegan and extremely tasty. The place itself isn’t fully vegan but has amazing options! You can enjoy the sunshine sitting in their outdoor area, the bar itself is also they trendy inside.

The Holy Cow, located in 34 Elder St, Edinburgh was a true gem to find. We had spent the whole day searching for somewhere dog friendly with vegan options. When we found this place, we were so happy they let us take the doggo inside. It is a small place, very warm and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and the food was top notch. We had vegan bbq jackfruit burgers and proper chips, followed by a take out of a few of there desserts to share later. The peanut butter cheesecake and Oreo cake was amazing. The price is very reasonable and I will certainly be visiting here again when I’m next in town.

Dundee

We went to a burrito place ( again dog friendly ) that had vegan options, vegan chicken, vegan beef, vegan cheese and sour cream, yes! Finally I didn’t have to have a half empty burrito! It was called Weemexico, 134 Nethergate, Dundee. Super tasty and the option to eat in or take out. Favourite burrito i’ve had at a restaurant so far!

We also visited a place called The White Goose, 44 Dock St, Dundee. This place wasn’t a vegan place but we had heard it did have options. They were dog friendly too! We had to ring to reserve a table as it gets very busy and I could see why. It was a pretty place inside and all the waitresses were so friendly and fussed over the doggo. I am not one to usually order a salad because it can be boring ordering a salad as the only option. Usually people who don’t cook vegan assume a few tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber will do. But I ordered the tofu salad and it was amazing! Really won me over, it was filled with all sorts and the dressing was super tasty. Served with a pitta bread I managed to wolf down the whole lot. The chefs did a really good job of using their skills of flavour to make a brilliant salad, it doesn’t have to be boring.
